Does this cupcake look incredible or what!? I'm a big cup cake girl. For example, I really wanted a cupcake tower for my wedding cake, unfortunately everyone laughed at the idea. something like this
I finally gave up the fight and settled for a normal cake. (It ended up being perfect though!)So a while ago I was watching Oprah and her show was on all the best desserts in America. She had Maggie Moo's Ice cream and Treatery on from Chicago and specifically highlighted their incredibly popular signature ice cream cupcakes! I instantly slobbered at the tv screen and have since then had a 4 month long CRAVING for these supposedly "to die for cupcakes!" Well, fate brought us together when we moved to Chicago! There just happens to be a Maggie Moo's at our local Mall!
Every time I pass the shop, I stand there for about 5 minutes debating whether or not it's really worth 4 dollars for ONE cupcake! I usually brush it off and try to think about how I could probably find a cute shirt for 4 dollars instead! Yesterday though, I finally broke! I gave myself a pep talk "Caitlin, you DESERVE a cup cake!" so.... I bought the most EXPENSIVE cupcake and split it with Jonah, ..kind of. Did my taste buds explode with flavor? NO! I was thinking the whole time,..."THIS IS IT!? I could make this!" I ate four dollars in four bites. Very disappointing. Thanks for all the trouble Oprah!

I have thought the SAME thing when I pass those really expensive cupcake shops in LA. Why would I spend $4 on 4 bites. At least you tried it so now you know it is a waste of money. But I guess if you were Oprah, then you would think $4 is cheap.
Caitlin, I have the PERFECT place for you! It's called Dippidee and it's in American Fork in the shopping center just east of Costco... unlike Maggie Moos (of which I was disappointed by both their pastries and ice cream) their treats are not as expensive and are DELICIOUS! I'm a big cupcake fan too, when you move back we'll have to stop by there ASAP :) And to be honest my friend had a cupcake tree in lieu of a wedding cake and I thought it was a fabulous idea, I wouldn't have laughed at you :)
Caitlin, your writing is REALLY improving, and I love the title of this blog. Keep up the good work. Love, your mom / ex-teacher
