Shopping will never be the same

This is how my day went:
So I needed to go grocery shopping, and Zach had a test to take, so after the morning session of general conference, I offered to drop him off at the testing center while I ran my errands. I've done this before, and I always have too much time on my hands, but jonah usually does great! I usually just hang out at the mall, and enjoy my time, running errands.
That was BEFORE he learned to walk. NOW... it's not so easy!!!

I had my first embarrassing moment as a mother. Okay, so it wasn't humiliating or anything, just hard. I went to Old Navy, and Jonah started throwing a fit in the shopping cart, trying to escape. After Old Navy, I decided to browse Ross since I had an hour left and was trying to save grocery shopping till last. I figured since the shopping cart was a failure, I would just carry him, and he should be fine right? Oh gosh.  It was like trying to hold on to a stray cat. Women were  staring at me (probably laughing inside) while I tried to hold on to Jonah while he screamed and threw himself back and forth trying to wiggle out. I'm sure they were thinking I was an idiot for not putting him in a cart. M e  t o o ladies. After a couple minutes I couldn't hold him anymore... Has anyone seen how big he is??? He gets really heavy after a while!!! I set him down and he instantly started laughing and running through the store.

He was knocking off dresses and sunglasses, grabbing people's legs...Long story short.  I ended up walking out of the store holding him across me with his head about upside down. That was the only way. I was dreading going to the grocery store!!! Is it bad to let your child play with a toy and not buy it? Probably. I mean, he didn't put it in his mouth or anything.. but to be honest I didn't care. I was so desperate to get in and get out. I can't believe how difficult he can be now! There are some awesome benefits with having him walk, but it's so exhausting!!

Oh Caitlin,
I haven't laughed that hard in quite awhile. I can just picture the whole thing! People were probably thinking that Jonah should be carrying you! Maybe you could somehow strap him in the cart with a box of nilla wafers. lol

Yes, I bring a lot of "candy" with me anytime Luke and I run errands together. Candy = fruit snacks.

But, it's not like you live that far from the testing center, why didn't you just drop Zach off and go home? Then run your errands later when Zach can watch him?

Cristin, Remember that I live in the very south end of Provo and UVU is up in Orem, I really didn't want to keep driving back and fort. I usually have granola bars too, Or crackers. But that's why I was going to the store, I had nothing!
