When we took Jonah to the E.R. for the croup the doctor said if he wakes up really croupy then to bundle him up and take jonah out in the cold air. Doesn't that sound like fun? It's hard enough waking up in the middle of the night but on top of it going out in the cold with a fussy sick child sounds even better!! Don't take that the wrong way, I will do anything for Jonah of course. I really hoped that being outside for so long after the accident would magically heal Jonah's croup. We've been running a humidifier in his room and suctioning his nose to try and help as much as possible. They said that the virus just has to run it's course though.
Sadly, he still wakes up throughout the night sounding awful. The past three nights since the accident have been rough just on Zach and I, we both can't sleep without pain killers and I'm always paranoid about not waking up when Jonah does. It takes me a couple minutes just to get out of bed without hurting too much. Zachary has been so helpful at night! He insists on sleeping closest to the door so he can jump up and get Jonah. He makes me stay in bed while he bundles Jonah up and stands outside with him throughout the whole night.  It's so sweet. When I woke up yesterday I found Zach and Jonah bundled up in the rocking chair together after a long night. Zach had to be at clinicals at 7 a.m. and was late because after I fell back asleep, Jonah threw up and he didn't wake me up, but instead took care of everything for me.
I'm just so gateful for Zachary and what a great father he is. He has so much going on with school, work and his internship, but he always puts family first.
