The Infamous Nasal Aspirator

Poor little Jonah. The winter cold has gotten to his little button nose. It's made the past couple weeks tough for him. The worst part of Jonah's day is when I have to blow his little nose. He absolutely despises it! I probably have to suction Jonah's nose about 5 times a day. I dread doing it to him. This morning I was holding him as I picked up the nasal aspirator and he went from smiling to screaming as soon as he saw the device. I then realized that he now recognizes when the torture is coming. Oh! I can't stand doing this awful chore to my son! I don't want him to be traumatized and view me as an enemy! What gets me through is that I know he can breathe when I'm finished. Anyway, the cute part of the whole thing is in between each "suction session" . Jonah breathes super fast, with his nose and eyes scrunched as he attempts to get rid of the snot on his own. I was able to record his breathing technique.

I just found an electric baby nasal aspirator online. I'm tempted to buy it, maybe it will make the job easier to do. It even plays songs to distract your baby from knowing whats going on.. but for some reason I don't believe that playful music is going to make the experience any more enjoyable for Jonah. It will most likely just turn any of his other toys with music into a feeling of fear and hate.

TV obsessed

What am I going to do with this silly boy!? I put him down on his play mat facing AWAY from the television, but yet somehow he managed to roll over enough to see the TV! It's so funny!

My winter Must Haves!

After having a years experience living in the snow, I finally figured out the key items you must have to get through the winter!

First, Lotion! Your hands get so dry in the cold! Mine get to the point where they are cracked and bleeding. It's very sad and very unattractive! I got this exact lotion as a gift and I absolutely LOVE IT! It's called Ultimate Silky Body Lotion and it is divine! I don't know about any of you, but I hate the feeling of having sticky, oily lotion all over me! This lotion seriously feels like your rubbing satin into your skin. It's amazing!
Next item, of course your coat. I got a great deal on two coats from Old Navy. One wool, for those nippy days, and one waterproof for snow or rain. You won't survive without one. (Unless your my husband, who wears shorts and flip flops in 15 degree weather)

IMPORTANT ITEM! Fuzzy Socks! I don't get out of bed unless I have my fuzzy socks to put on. They are the most comfortable pair of socks. WARNING: you might never take them off.

These are my boots. I LOVE THEM! I got them last December after my feet froze in my opened toed shoes. They are by Dr. Shcolls and are pretty much the most comfortable shoe I own. I wear them with jeans or with a skirt. A good pair of boots are definitely a must have! They are the most expensive shoe Ive ever bought but I know they will last me a long time! Tip: To add warmth and coziness, wear fuzzy socks underneath.

I don't believe anyone could survive the winter without chap stick! I am an addict. My advice is to go to Costco and buy chapstick in Bulk. When I was in esthetician school we learned that petrolatum (which is in most every chap stick) is very addicting to your lips. What happens is our lips get used to the petrolatum that pretty soon our lips aren't producing any moisture on its own. Result: Becoming addicted to chapstick. So it is important that you try to find chaptick without petrolatum. I think Burts Bees Wax chaptick doesn't use it. Just a thought.

Last but not least: Hot Cocoa! Oh how delicious! My favorite place to go is Mimi's Cafe. My sister in-law Katie and I used to go to Mimi's almost every week and just order Hot Chocolate (ask to use milk instead of water) with EXTRA whip cream.
