Can you stay this way forever?

Grown don't mean nothing to a mother.  A child is a child.  They get bigger, older, but grown?  What's that suppose to mean?  In my heart it don't mean a thing.  ~Toni Morrison, Beloved,1987

when mommy goes bye-bye & daddy stays home

When I came home after getting  my bad hair cut the other week,I walked into the house to find this.
Emma wrapped up in Jonah's baby blanket, Jonah feeding Emma with a bottle, my whole bed spread thrown across the room, and I think Emma was naked under that blanket too?
But..as you can see, they were both very happy. It's times like these that we moms need to see so we don't feel so insecure about the job we're doing. I think I'm doing just fine.

FLASHBACK FRIDAY

aww. barbies. When we moved to Arizona, my mom informed me that she had stuffed some boxes in our garage for me. I had no idea what she was talking about and two months later I finally opened them to find my barbies! I remember begging my mom to save them for me about ten years ago, arguing that one day I might have a daughter, and I'm so glad I did.

Everything is exactly how I had left them: butchered hair, strange outfits, and drawn on makeup. Oh and the Barbie my sister Kelley helped me melt the hair to her head (using a blow dryer) hoping to turn her into a homemade ken doll.Remember the night time barbie with the eyes that would magically close when you wiped a cold cloth over them? I had her. She was great.

It made me think, I wonder the last day I played with these, and decided I was never to play with them ever again. What stopped me from opening up this tub to make up my little barbie  house and make believe? I probably realized I was the only one still playing with barbies and was forced to stop!  Isn't it crazy how time flies by?

I brought my barbie  tub inside and let Jonah have a go. I don't think it's wrong to let a two year old boy play with dolls, but it did make me feel better when the only thing he cared about was my Barbie bicycle and the Kelly doll jeep. You see that canopy bed infront of me in the picture? Jonah kept trying to squeeze inside to take a nap.
I hope Emma enjoys Dr. Barbie and Posh Spice Barbie as much as I did.

February

Wow! have I blogged at all lately!? Okay, I really need to keep this updated. I always go back and read my posts from two years ago and see how different Jonah was, stories I have forgotten about..all the stupid things I say on here,.. Now I'm such a slacker! Not any more! You know what another great thing about blogs are? If your computer crashes and you loose all your pictures, If you are keeping up with your blog, you have some!! (I guess you could also you picasa, photobucket etc. but you get the point.
I titled this post February because I just have a bunch of random pictures from last month and instead of spreading it all out in five different posts, I'm just going to quickly get caught up, so we can move on to March! Sounds good? (Is anyone even reading this anymore? Probably not.But that's okay :))

Jonah is turning into the sweetest big brother! The other day, I was standing in line at Target, Jonah was in the shopping cart seat and Emma was in the basket in her car seat. Jonah kept turning around and sticking his hand through the bars and tickling Emma saying, "Tickle Tickle Tickle EMMA! hahaha! Tickle Tickle Emma!" She absolutely adores him! Everyone in line thought he was just the sweetest thing. (Good thing he didn't start hitting her after that.)

The other night while eating dinner Jonah was upset because Emma didn't get a piece of pizza, I tried to explain that she couldn't eat it, but finally gave in and just set a piece on the high chair she was in. Jonah wiped his tears and said, "Thanks mommy, thanks mommy."

He wants to help me change her diaper, he is always trying to jam her pacifier in her mouth and he says," OH NO! Emma's sad!" when she starts to cry. We were having a dance party one night and Jonah climbed up to Emma's seat and tried to make her dance saying "EMMA DANCE!!" I hope the love continues, and that when Emma is old enough to play with Jonah's toys that he remains just as sweet.

(notice the slice of missing hair above his ear.)

Jonah is becoming more and more reasonable, I don't mind taking him to a store as much as I used to. He is talking so much more and I'm starting to love this age! He loves to read books, sing his favorite songs, and he LOVES to color!

Miss Emma is growing up so fast, and becoming such a chunk! She smiles at EVERYTHING!
Emma can roll over, she has started to play with her feet, and she is getting really good at holding her toys. I love this chunky baby stage she's at! She still doesn't sleep through the night, I don't know if I should try baby cereal at night? Anyone has success with that at four months? She has been waking up at five every morning which kills me!
Oh and we bought a baby bjorn! Can not believe I lived without one of these for so long!! Emma Loves it! I make Zach wear it most of the time because of my back, but it's great if I have to take both kids out in town alone, and Zach just wears it around church and the house. She's always happy in that thing. The best part about it, is I bought a new one, then found a used one for TEN bucks on craigslist. So we returned the new one and this one is In great condition except for being navy blue, I can't believe how cheap we got it for!

I Chopped off ALL my hair! Long story short, I got the WORST hair cut  ever. I wanted a really short bob but the lady did not get it and instead gave me a mullet or something close! Oh I cried and cried. But thanks to Katie, she helped me find pictures of exactly what I wanted and I went the very next day and got it fixed! I felt so naked walking out of the Salon, but I have grown to love it. It's SO much easier to style now. My hair was so long and thick, now its light and I can dry and style in half the time! So here is before:

(now I miss my long hair looking at it here.)

After:
I know, what was I thinking right? These are the cell phone pics I took the day I got it chopped (the good hair cut. I wont even show you the bad.)
Any way, fresh hair for summer, just need high lights now. That was the longest post ever! But I'm all caught up. Life is great and crazy. Just grateful to not be in snowy Utah or Idaho.
