A bad taste

We went to the "Taste of Chicago" with a bunch of people from our office. Its a big event where every restaurant in Chicago has a booth so you can taste their food. We hated it! It was soooo crowded! We took an hour long train ride there and 30 minutes later Zach and I were running down the street with a stroller, hoping to catch the next train back home! We barely missed it, so we just walked around Chicago until the next train arrived. Here are pictures of the trip:

Jonah was not loving the train ride..(I wasn't either) The only thing that would calm him down was a cell phone and Zachary's glasses.
Here is one of the many weirdos of Chicago. I felt bad for the guy because everyone wanted a picture with him, but no one would leave any money for him.
This gives you an idea of how INSANE the crowd was there! We could barely move and I kept running over people's feet with the stroller!
Here is Zach making a wish that everyone around him would go away. He hates crowds!
Here is another strange attraction. A Face fountain! All I could think about was how embarrassed I would be if that was me! The old lady's face would change from a smile to a frown. WEIRD.
WOW a mirror! Even though we had a good time strolling down the streets of Chicago, Zach made me promise him we would never do anything like that again.I forget his job requires him to walk for 9 hours a day. Guess my dream of visiting NYC is ruined. Anyone want to go?

Good Morning Rain, I like you

I couldn't help myself. Jonah was the sweetest little guy this morning. I love the mood he is in right after he wakes up. He is the happiest he will be all day at 7:00 am. I on the other hand, dread waking up early with him, especially when he's ready at 6! But I do enjoy playing with him after we are up!
This morning there was a storm outside and we LOVED it! Rain always makes my home feel extra cozy! It's great here, because it's a warm rain! I leave the door open and that way we can hear, smell, and watch the storm. I just had to post pictures of what a cutie Jonah was this morning! Here the monkey is, just hanging out and getting a good wake up stretch!
One of the great qualities about Jonah, is his love for books! I found him in a little corner this morning reading one. (or looking at the pictures, who knows for sure..he probably can read!)
And if you don't believe me, here is proof. Jonah will look at each page then turn to the next one.

Gotta love it.

Ja ja ja jonah!

A Picture Story
By: Caitlin Nalder

Jonah and mommy decided to go on a bed time walk. Jonah was very happy to be outside in the nice weather.
He took the time to reflect on his day and all the exciting games he played. Like when daddy threw him up in the air and twirled him around the house. That was so much fun! Or when Aunt Kelley came by and they made silly faces at each other.
He thought about how yummy lunch was and how much he enjoys pushing stuff.

They stopped to rest on the grass. Jonah thought mommy was going to let him play in the water!
Jonah didn't realize that in order to touch the water, he would have to crawl through the grass!
He sat and thought long and hard about what to do..
Finally, Jonah convinced himself to face his fear of the pokey grass and give it a shot!SMACK! Too bad he tried to crawl on a hill. The grass is definitely NOT Jonah's friend. Next time, they're bringing a blanket.

THE END

Platinum Sunday Barbecue

The office had a barbecue yesterday afternoon. I loved not having to make lunch after church! Kelley and I wore the same t-shirt. Thats what happens when you shop together.
Jonah was SO mellow the whole time! I think we were there right through his afternoon nap.

Uncle Vak and Jonah hung out together while I got more food. It was a great day! The weather was so nice too! I think the best part of the barbecue was when all the guys broke out into song. They were all singing along to Kenny Chesney or Someone like that. It was really awkward for Kelley and I.
Like my new blog layout? ha ha I realized that blogging is like scrap booking for me.

As the storm passes through

Remember my description of an ocean of cool whip? This is kind of what I was talking about! I snapped this picture of the sky on my cell phone. SO WEIRD!
Oh and on the top of the picture, where it looks all blurry, that's not just my phone. That's exactly how the clouds were.

Yesterday was cursed. First, we went out to breakfast and the waitress wouldn't substitute a waffle for a pancake. After breakfast, we ran to wal-mart because Zach really wanted a new pair of shorts. Camo shorts to be exact. This is actually the pair I was going to buy him for $50 from Abercrombie and Fitch.
Instead, we found this pair at walmart for $12.99! What a bargain!
As Zach was picking out his shorts, I thought, I want a pair! So Zach convinced me to try on a boy pair of camo shorts. Haha I know, They did NOT fit right in the waist, but they actually looked really cute, if the waist only fit me! I guess it's a good thing I'm not as small as a 12 year old boy. Anyway, as I was trying them on, Zach had Jonah with him in his dressing room. When I came out, Zach was standing around talking to an employee and I asked, "Where's Jonah?" Zach yelled, "Oh crap!" and he took off looking for where he had forgotten Jonah. My stomach sank as I followed him. Luckily Jonah was just sitting in the shopping cart next to the shorts. I felt pretty bad for Zach though because all the ladies who saw what happened were giving him a really hard time. I told him he is never being left alone with our children again. (just kidding Sweet heart) So feeling like the responsible parent, later on that day I parked at Kelley's apartment and as I walked around my car to get Jonah out I realized I left the keys in the car. The car was of course Locked with Jonah locked inside! I than realized that the spare I normally keep hidden under the car was not there either! Of course I looked anyway, hoping by some miracle it would be there.
I ran and got Kelley and she was convinced she could unlock the car with a coat hanger. The first 5 minutes were really fun for Jonah I think. He just laughed and smiled as I made faces at him through the window. I knew though that I needed to get him out soon because it was getting hot and stuffy in the car. While kelley tried with a coat hanger a few times I called my apartment complex to see if they could send a maintenance guy to help. They asked me for my number to call back and Of course I wasn't thinking (I was really upset) and I gave them my phone number and my phone was locked in the car! Next I ran into Kelley's house and called literally about 4 Lock smiths and NONE of them could do it for one reason or another even though I'm yelling "MY BABY IS LOCKED IN THE CAR!" I finally decided to just call 911, and by this time it had been about 20 minutes and Jonah was hysterical and there was sweat dripping off his face. I panicked for a minute and tried breaking the window but I couldn't even do that! ( I'm not very strong) Kelley had to talk to the 911 operator because I was too emotional. The lady kept trying to calm me down but it only made me feel worse. Within 5 minutes a cop was there and got Jonah out! I was SO RELIEVED he was okay! Even though his whole body was drenched in sweat! I ran him inside and gave him some water. Poor little guy, I've never seen him gulp down a water bottle like that. So Jonah is Okay, and I now Know to call 911 immediately! They come so quickly! I'm very paranoid now about locking and unlocking my car. I wish I had one of those cars with the key pad on the door. That would come in handy.

The picture says it all.....

Who doesn't love sweet potatoes?

A walk in the clouds

Being the nerd I am, I have decided to take pictures of every "really cool" cloud I see while living here. The Clouds are absolutely incredible here in Indiana! It's not just me who notices it either. The other day I walked out of the mall and there were about 4 people standing around, staring at the sky. I wish I had a camera because it literally looked like an ocean of cool whip on top of us! I've never seen anything like it before!

Most of these are during a thunder storm, the one below looks like a tornado! It's just rain but still really neat I think.

And this is how Jonah looks every time I step out on the porch to take a picture.

Meet my son

While Zach was taking a nap, Jonah and I had a little photo shoot session. He LOVED it! He would laugh at all the pictures of himself. So funny!

The word Vomit

WARNING: Don't read this if you have a weak stomach
Just a funny story:
My poor husband has been sick. He doesn't have a fever or anything, but he has a nasty cough. The other night, while Zach was rocking Jonah to sleep, he coughed so hard he puked! The worst part was that it went all over Jonah's crib!(I had to clean it up, of course) That's nothing though, because the next day, we were suctioning Jonah's nose and Zach coughed and threw up all over my leg and foot! I screamed, gagged, than got up, ran into the bathroom and threw up too! It was really traumatizing. Now I bet I got all of you to do the same! Have a nice day!

Jonah's past week...

I was finally able to upload all my pictures! yay! We've been having so much fun lately! Jonah is such a big kid! Today, for example, he started to say "Dada". We know that he probably doesn't have any idea what that means but we like to believe it's his first word.
Jonah has been kind of sick this past week, the poor little guy's nose was so plugged up he couldn't eat or sleep. Today he seems to be doing better.. I'm so relieved!

It's so cute to me that Jonah just crawls around and sits whenever he feels like it! He is such a little man! Still super chunky though! I love my little marshmallow!
We went swimming with the other moms in the office and Jonah L O V E S the pool! Too bad the weather wasn't nice enough to swim for more than 20 minutes! I can't wait to go back!
I bought Jonah a swim diaper and swim trunks, the swim trunks were too small in his waist... What a belly that boy has! It hangs over everything! Haha!
Here's another sweet picture of our boy!
Remember our balcony view in California? This is our view now.. a little different! I love the open land! It's very peaceful here (besides the tornadoes)

The other day Jonah pulled himself up on the front door! He surprises me every day!
