San Fransisco Baby!!.... kind of.

We picked up and moved to Oakland, CA for my husband's job this summer. We will be back in Provo this fall for school. This has been such an experience so far! It's so different around here! Luckily I have my sister Kelley and her husband here so we get to hang out every day which is lots of fun! If you are wondering what it's like around here than I will compare myself to Julia Stiles in Save the Last Dance, minus the ballet, and black boyfriend. But thats seriously what its like here and how I feel! Kelley keeps trying to convince me that we don't live in the ghetto but Kelley, I have a LIST of examples:
1. Not only is the bullet proof glass around the counters at the bank, thats normal, but whats NOT normal is bullet proof glass at the post office and Best of all, Pizza Hut! There is a hole to slide your money through and a hole to slide out the pizza.

2. There is a security gaurd every where you go! Wal-Mart, the Gas Station, KFC, Trader Joes, In-N-Out.... EVERYWHERE.

3. I hear sirens and see police cars almost every 5 minutes down my street.

4. I can't understand what the cashier is saying to me, and she is speaking english.

5. A couple days ago, a man held his wife hostage in the building next to mine, with a big sniper gun. My street was roped off with cops, and no one was allowed in or out of my building because the guy was shooting at cops down below.

I feel really safe here... haha. No really though, I'm starting to see it as a great adventure. I just don't leave my apartment without my pepper spray! I think I've just been sheltered living in Utah. We actually live in a great location though because we are only a 15 minute drive over the bridge to San Fransisco! Kelley and I went on Saturday and had soo much fun! Here's Jonah trying on some sun glasses at the mall..
We ate the best food ever while there too!
Here is the view from my apartment patio.. and that's the building with the crazy man and the hostage.
Another view from my patio
Here are pics of our apartment.. It's very plain I know, but keep in mind we are only here for four months and it's awesome because the company hooks us up with the housing and furniture!

Living in the City..

I haven't posted anything because we moved to California last week and I still don't have full access to the internet. I have so much to update on but I will have to wait. Hopefully tomorrow I will get the internet in!

UPDATE: Mr. Mom returns

I was shocked, Zach and Jonah lasted the whole class... No big problems at all!(I have such a behaved little boy.) As for what I did during my morning off... I took a Very LONG hot shower, passed out on the couch for an hour, ate a symphony bar, and most importantly Cleaned the whole Apartment! I forgot how much you can accomplish when you aren't constantly taking breaks ( or having a little messy monster undoing all your work) I did enjoy having the house to myself but I must admit that by the end of the morning, I missed my baby!
Zach said it went well, but he would never do it again! He had to take my diaper bag with him and I guess he didn't like all the looks he got carrying a purse around as well as the people telling him "Nice purse." He also said that Jonah was talking too much, he had to use cold water to make his bottle and Jonah didn't like it, and Zach's arm was killing him holding jonah the whole walk through campus. Poor dad.. that sounds tough. ;)

Mr. Mom

This morning I said jokingly to Zach, "You should take Jonah to school with you today!" and surprisingly Zach's response was," Okay! I'll take him to class! It will be fun!" ..."Really?" ..."Ya why not!?" I was NOT going to argue with him..I actually feel really guilty like I should have warned him what it would be like or something but hey! He said it would be fun! Wow! Why didn't I think of this great arrangement earlier in the semester! Dad takes Jonah to class, Mom stays home and takes a shower, cleans, Takes a nap.... Lounges around and eats Bon Bons while I watch Soap operas all day long.. Sounds like a Marvelous Plan to me! Except I think there is a reason why more people don't do it that way. I am seriously typing this super fast because I don't know how long Zach is going to last with Jonah in class.. I want to get as much out of this opportunity as I possibly can!
This is the weirdest feeling.. I feel like I'm 10 months pregnant again, without the belly, but with the exhaustion. Jonah started army crawling this week and it's been an adjustment for me (Baby proofing as he gets into more and more stuff) It's really REALLY nice to have a little break! Anyways, So I am going to go take a shower now... and take MY TIME in the shower!! Maybe I'll take a bubble bath! .. then a nap! OOOH! I DO HOPE Zach and Jonah last the whole class! I wont be surprised though if Zach drops Jonah back off any minute now. ..

Growing Up!

Jonah is 6 months now! He is getting soo big! .. and soooo cute!

He figured out how to watch at me while I'm folding clothes when he's in his crib! He was laughing so hard, watching me on the ground.

He gets into everything these days! He is seriously a speed roller. Jonah has also learned to lift himself up as you can see in these pictures below.

In this video, Jonah is trying to escape his bouncer. He knows how to do it now, so if I don't strap him in, He will roll over and slide out. It's probably his favorite thing to do!

What I do on my free time...

I never thought I would be the kind of wife that sits home and sews all day.,but I wish I had started years ago! I keep my sewing machine in Jonah's bedroom, so lately when I put him down for a nap, it's on my bed so I can sew! Here are my recent projects: Keep in mind that I'm very new to this, so it's not advanced what so ever! ...Here is a little blanket I made for Jonah. I thought he needed a real boy blankie. What says boy more than John Deer and Camo right? He loves it too! I went to the fabric store and fell in love with this fabric! I ended up using it for my throw pillows and some other strange things I came up with to make my living room match. I think I will eventually just use it for my bed but since we are moving at the end of this month I figure it's the best time to experiment!
